Many states allow kids as young as 15 and 16 years of age to get a license. Which in turn promotes the buying of a car and of course, in most states, with every car, you need auto insurance. But not many companies would offer low priced coverage for teenagers OR offer them coverage at all due to their age. That is why you have to do research on car insurance rates for 16 year olds before actually going out and doing anything.

I would recommend you research before you even buy a car because most dealerships wouldn’t let you walk out without insurance as the law instructs them. So unless you want to pay a fine later on to your local DMV office, you should do research, see what will save you the most money, because as I said above, it isn’t easy for a 16 year old kid to find cheap insurance, be careful that you don’t get taken advantage of.
